Old Down Estate
Foxholes Lane, BS32 4PG

In 2013, I photographed my friend’s wedding at Old Down. I had no idea this wonderful gem was nestled so close to Bristol and overlooking the bridge to South Wales. Immediately, I was enchanted by the beautiful manor and gardens.

Since then, the venue has expanded substantially. Offering Spa experiences at Foxholes Spa, Weddings in the Barn within the walled garden and building the large Foxholes Barn accommodation. The festival bell tents also offer the ultimate sunset experience.

A stunning victorian manor dating back to 1856.

A blank canvas for all style of weddings, with magnificent views of the River Severn and South Wales. The interiors include a magestic sweeping staircase, orangery breakfast room and gardens

Evolving throughout the year, the grounds offer something special in every season. Photographers can embrace these natural shifts to create a set of images that feels completely unique to each couple and their moment in time.

Manor Lawn

The Gardens

For weddings of up to 200, the grand Manor House is a luxurious choice for local couples. With views of the river-severn to captivate guests during drinks, there is so much Old Down has to offer for your photography. A gentle walk through out the grounds and woodland provides a stunning backdrop for couple photographs and a quiet moment of reflection for the couple. On the front lawn, confetti and family photographs can take place before cocktail hour.

Overlooking The Severn

For Weddings in the Barn, the walled garden offers year-round florals and foliage. The best part for me is the large enclosed lawn and the spontaneity of the wildlife. Weeve had chickens weaving under chairs during a wedding ceremony, and the peacocks joined us during the signing of the register. Even in wet weather, the medieval barn is a rustic space for wedding parties of up to 70.

Unique Indoor Locations

The Manor is a blank canvas, modestly decorated for you to bring your own creative flair through florals and styling.

Grand Staircase

Orangery

The atrium is the central light-filled space within the Victorian manor house. Featuring a grand, sweeping Bath stone staircase, a crystal chandelier, and the capacity to seat up to 70 guests for civil ceremonies. From any angle, you can get stunning photographs and candid shots of your guests.

Bridal Suite

The long orangery room hosts the wedding breakfasts (& optional wedding ceremony space for larger parties). The wall of windows allows the natural light to stream in, giving photographers the opportunity to capture bright, candid images without flash. Perfect during the speeches and not imposing on the guest experience.
